Literatures of Jewish Secularism and Secularization

The
Posen Foundation's ten-day intensive seminar
examined Jewish secularity from historical, sociological,
philosophical and cultural perspectives. The seminar was open to professors, independent scholars and advanced graduate students in
Jewish Studies, social and intellectual history, political theory and
philosophy, literary studies, and sociology of religion.
The seminar was led by Rachel Rubinstein (Hampshire College), Naomi Seidman (Graduate Theological Union) and other faculty. The program consisted of lectures, discussion of readings, presentations of participants'
research, and cultural programs. Time was reserved for participants to work on
their own research.
