THE CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF ANTISEMITISM AT THE

HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM

An interdisciplinary research center, the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism is dedicated to an independent, critical approach to the accumulation and dissemination of knowledge necessary for understanding the phenomenon of antisemitism. The Center supports research on antisemitism through the ages, focusing on relations between Jews and non-Jews, particularly in situations of tension or crisis. More than 150 research projects have received funding from the Center. One notable project was Professor Deborah Lipstadt’s research that was published as Denying the Holocaust: The Growing Assault on Truth and Memory. Under the present leadership of Professor Robert S. Wistrich, the Center continues to conduct innovative studies on the multi-faceted phenomenon of antisemitism, and provides extensive assistance to researchers, students, journalists, and policy-makers. Recent research and public education efforts address the disturbing “new” antisemitism, particularly its connection with radical Islam and Arab anti-Zionism.

The Center has sponsored numerous academic conferences and lectures. An active publications division has produced numerous monographs in the Studies in Antisemitism series, as well as short and medium-length papers on current concerns in the ACTA and Posen Papers series. The Center’s journal, Antisemitism International, includes a wide range of serious articles on major issues as well as historical research by leading international experts. Like the Posen Papers, issues of the journal are in great demand, have been widely distributed throughout the world, and have influenced policy-makers in seeking ways to combat antisemitism. The Felix Posen Bibliographical Project on Antisemitism is a central feature of the Center's research and provides a major service to scholars and the broader public.

The Center’s website provides information on current activities, conferences, lectures, and publications.
