CENTER FOR CULTURAL JUDAISM
|
The Center for Cultural Judaism
administers Posen Foundation projects in North America, most notably
the Posen Project Grants for the study of secular Jewish history and
cultures. Headed by Executive Director Myrna Baron, the Center was
established in 2003 largely in response to demographic data showing
that nearly one-half of American Jews self-identify as “secular” or
“somewhat secular.” As a resource for this large and growing population
of cultural, secular and nonreligious Jews, the Center supports
projects to enrich their secular Jewish education.
The Center for Cultural Judaism publishes Contemplate: The International Journal of Cultural Jewish Thought, an annual compendium of articles previously published in many languages; edits the online journal Secular Culture & Ideas, which features articles, essays, and interviews with leading secular thinkers; developed and maintains the only comprehensive bibliography of secular Jewish books and publications; publishes an annual newsletter, Reflections; and maintains a website that represents Posen Foundation efforts in North America, Israel, and Europe.
